Val Hill Response

1. What works? What does she do well?
2. What areas could be improved? Be specific.
3. Your thoughts on her introduction/hook...
4. If you watched this presentation live, what questions may you have for the presenter?
5. As you continue creating your product and presentation, what can you learn from this presentation and apply to your own process?

After watching Val Hill's presentation my initial reaction is of mixed feelings. She presented her information with great ease but the presentation was not very engaging; in fact it was quite boring. I never really got hooked into the topic and she didnt really fluxuate her voice enough to really capture my attention. She was reading off of her paper for most of it and her legs were constantly swinging. She had good images but they were seperated from her research. I would have used them to add to the words being said as an image to go along with the words. This engages the audience more. Her binder of letters was nice but as an audience member, they are just pieces of paper from a binder. She should have given a sample of each as an example so the audience knows what the meaning of each is. Her introduction was not really anything special it was more of a "this is my topic" approach. If i was a judge I would have a few questions for her. Would you have special needs kids in a special ed course or in a general pathway classroom and if so how would you set it up? Is this realistic in all school districts? How much of a help would this really end up being to these students? It's clay how special can it be? As i watched this presentation i can reflect on how to improve my own work. In my presentation, not being monotone is very important. Voice fluxuation makes people interested in what you are saying. Also saying what I have to say confidently will make the audience believe what I say because they think I buy into what im selling. Finally I have to use my multimedia and my research to compliment each other. Seperate they are nice but together they work flawlessly.
Deadlines approaching, crunch time is closing in, well see how it goes.

If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be.
Now put foundations under them.
